FAQ
A chiropractic adjustment is a procedure in which a chiropractor uses their hands or a small instrument to apply a controlled, sudden force to a spinal joint. The goal of this procedure, also known as spinal manipulation, is to improve spinal motion and improve your body’s physical function
Chiropractic adjustment is generally considered safe when performed for the right condition by someone who is properly trained and licensed to practice chiropractic care.
While you may feel some discomfort with the adjustment, you will not feel severe pain during a chiropractic adjustment. Dr. Elliott will apply a controlled amount of force (pressure) to your joints, which can create a cracking or popping noise as the gas leaves your joints. While this may sound painful, it doesn’t feel painful.
Anyone who wants to be healthy, move better, or think better should be adjusted. Chiropractic care is not just for pain relief but other health concerns. Even those wanting to AVOID drugs and surgery may want chiropractic adjustments. We recommend adjustments for a variety of reasons including pain relief, improved comfort during pregnancy, and correction of misalignment. However, it’s important to keep in mind that chiropractic adjustments are just one small part of a chiropractic care plan.

Barring any red flags, we typically adjust on the first visit. Your first visit is very important. We are gathering information about your condition, performing an exam and x-rays (as needed), and starting your treatment that day to start the healing process.
Dr. Elliott will make recommendations on the follow up visit, called a report of findings. She will review your x-rays and go over your specific treatment recommendations. Depending on the severity of your case, this could be as short as two weeks. More complicated cases may require a longer treatment plan. These plans are tailored for each patient and their specific needs.
Most insurance companies do not require a referral from your primary care physician for chiropractic services. The exceptions are Medicaid and HMO health plans. If you are unsure, we are more than happy to verify your benefits for you.

Chiropractic care is usually a safe, effective practice during pregnancy. Not only can routine chiropractic care help manage pain in your back, hips, and joints, it can also establish pelvic balance. That can provide your baby with as much space as possible over the course of your pregnancy.
One of the most helpful therapies used post-surgery is chiropractic care, which involves performing chiropractic adjustments to allow your body to heal and relieve pain and discomfort in the body. Chiropractic care is absolutely safe for most patients who undergo back surgery after they have healed from the procedure. We always want to be safe and that would want to get the approval of your surgeon.
